Annie Theriault - Grand Challenges Canada
Annie Theriault is the Chief Investment Officer of Grand Challenges Canada and the Managing Director of the EWEC Innovation Marketplace, an initiative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Grand Challenges Canada, NORAD, and USAID. In that capacity,Annie is involved in strategic and fundraising matters and works closely with promising portfolio companies on their growth and financing plans. Annie is also the Managing Partner of Cross-Border Impact Ventures, a new impact investment firm partnered with Grand Challenges Canada to launch a global health technology fund focused on women’s and children’s health.
Prior to entering the impact investment sector, Annie spent most of her career investing in private companies as a venture capitalist and lender across multiple sectors and stages. Annie obtained her PhD in Management from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, is a CFA Charterholder and holds the ICD.D designation. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Business Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Chemistry from Mount Allison University.
